Spring News 2021
Greetings to you all! Happy Spring! We wanted to send you an update of our latest happenings in Honduras. But first, I want to thank you for your continued financial donations. It’s only through your generosity that we’re able to educate, mentor, guide and support underprivileged youth and families preventing the cycle of poverty from continuing in Honduras . We couldn’t do any of this without you and want to recognize you in this season of renewal. You are the backbone of our organization and truly make a difference for the future of Honduras. Thank you!
Our H4H Youth
School’s in session!
February started a new school year and we have several students in our tuition program (shown above left to right): Michell, Stephany, Rosa, Denzel and Jairo have all begun their classes and are off to a great start. Michell also takes accelerated English classes. Hopefully, we’ll be able to have some one-on-one conversations on our next mission trip possibly as early as this summer. Please email me if you are interested at julie@heart4honduras.org
Senderos Youth Updates
Congratulations are in order for Ivan! At the start of 2021, Ivan found a job and is now living independently. Praise God! Alas, this meant he had to discontinue his English classes due to his work schedule. We are ever so grateful for all the efforts he’s put into becoming independent. Ivan continues to be a part of our H4H family and volunteers in his free time mentoring some of our younger youth. He also continues to be an active member in his church on Sundays. We are so proud of the man he is today! We love you, Ivan.
Emerson and Camilo also are also doing well. They are working, living on their own and paying their own expenses. We continue to catch up with Camilo every week at church. Please pray for their success in the days ahead.
Victor, Angie and Melisa
A lot has happened for this little family. In the fall, after losing his job and his barbershop business not gaining enough customers, Victor started his own convenient store with the help of his sister! It’s been a slow process getting this business off the ground, but its gaining customers and is providing enough income to sustain him and his family. He was even able to donate food and emergency resources to help local flood victims after back to back hurricanes hit in November.
This month, Victor turned 18, so he is now an official adult! Happy birthday Victor!! And lastly in May, this little family will have a new addition. God is good.
New!! OUR HONDURAN PARTNERS
Agribusiness - Tikvah Ranch
As many of you are aware, we have started an agribusiness. In February of this year, we invested in a produce farm in Omoa Honduras! The first planting has been done and soon we will be harvesting corn. The plantain crop is also progressing, but won’t be ready for harvest until fall. Lime trees will subsequently be added to the land. With our investment, the ranch has agreed to donate 10 percent of all its profits towards our mission. We couldn’t be more grateful for this opportunity and who knows, this may be a place where some of our youth will be able to work. We will keep you posted.
As for our two farmers we help with seeds and plant crops, they are not only able provide food for their families, but they are able to sell the excess for profit! Blessings for God’s wisdom and provision.
Fundharse
Last month we teamed up with a Honduran non-profit called Fundharse. They will be providing physical donations to us on an ongoing basis. And this month, the first donations given were cans of powdered milk. With this donation, we were able to distribute them to 180 families in two very impoverished communities. One of our volunteers took these photos of some of the children we provided for. Thank you Fundharse for being a part of helping the future of Honduras!
