Leonie in clinicLeonie Webster is the founder and pioneer of Heart for Honduras.

She is a qualified midwife and dental surgery assistant who has been called by God to live and work in Honduras to bring hope, healing and compassion to the poorest of the poor in Honduras, and to reach the poor, lost and vulnerable especially women and orphans through the power of God’s love.

In 1998, whilst studying midwifery in Leeds, Leonie was woken by the presence of God. He took her to Jeremiah 23: 3-5:

‘But I will gather the remnant of My flock out of all countries where I have driven them and bring them back to their folds; and they shall be fruitful and increase. I will set up shepherds over them who will feed them; and they shall fear non more, nor be dismayed, nor shall they be lacking,‘ says the Lord. ‘Behold, the days are coming,’ says the Lord, ‘That I will raise to David a Branch of righteousness; A King shall return and prosper and execute judgement and righteousness in the earth.’

Leonie with adopted son JoshuaHe told her that she was to care for the women and children of Honduras. After qualifying as a midwife, Leonie learnt Spanish and moved to Honduras to fulfil God’s calling. She has been living by faith and working full time in Honduras since February 2005.

In addition to the ministry of Heart for Honduras, she has successfully adopted a Honduran boy, called Joshua, a vibrant bilingual six year old who was neglected by his parents and abandoned when he was 18 months old. Joshua has now been with Leonie since 2004.
